Wrong Medicine

Obama announced yesterday that he wishes to have the largest expansion of government projects since the 1950s. He claims that it will create jobs. Just what we need, more bureaucrats who can't be fired short of an act of congress. Such methods have already been tried and failed by FDR prior to WWII. Unfortunately, our kids today are indoctrinated in government schools that the "New Deal" pulled us out of the depression. Nothing could be further from the truth, during the implementation of the "New Deal" the depression only got worse. It was WWII that pulled us out of the depression.

How is Obama going to pay for this? The federal government is bankrupt. The only way to pay for all this would be to raise taxes (and further dampen the economy), borrow more from overseas, or printing more money. With over seven trillion dollars in bailouts promised by the federal government, there is no money to pay for anything else. We are heading for inflation the likes of which this country has never seen before. Unfortunately, it is our generation who will bear the burden of fixing this mess. The baby boomers have destroyed this country and I for one will not shed a tear when the last one is dead.

Once over 50% of the citizens of a country are dependent on the government for sustenance, you no longer have a democracy rather the government becomes the dictator of your lives. We are well on our way, because of the fact government schools have indoctrinated children to believe that the government is the care giver for everyone. We have completely departed from the purpose of government as defined in the constitution. Those who actually do pay taxes cannot support the government leeches and the massive, unnecessary bureaucracy. This massive expansion of government proposed by Obama will lead to an implosion of the Federal government. When that day comes I will be ready.

Unfortunately politicians are so beholden to the lobbyists, money and power that they have forgotten the people who have put them where they are and will do anything to preserve their own power even if it means ignoring their constituents. The constitution for all practical purposes is dead.

The best way to tackle this problem is for the government to get out of the way. Propping up bad debt and over priced markets will not solve the problem it will just delay the inevitable. The government needs to lay off regulations if it wants to save the the Detroit auto industry. Notice that foreign auto makers in the South are still thriving because they are not regulated into submission by the government and the unions. The housing market needs to fall and all that bad debt liquidated as a result of failed government policies dating all the way back to Carter years. The less government involvement we have in the economy the quicker and less painfully, the market will resolve itself. Of course, if the government sits out on the sidelines it can't claim that "it solved the problem" to buy more votes from the ignorant masses of voters.

When the bills come due for all these projects along with the bailouts I wonder who will be opening their checkbook to pay for it.....
